Your wig can be worn in 4 easy steps.
Step 1: Take the wig out of the box and grip it properly from underneath at the cap.
Step 2: Use the specially designed wig comb provided in your wig kit to set a clear parting for your wig. Using the back of the comb to remove any stray strands of hair from the straight parting and then comb with gentle strokes from about 2 cms away from the root to the tip.
Step 3: Next, take a wide-toothed comb and gently brush the rest of the wig to detangle it. Your wig is ready to be worn!
Step 4: Align your wig to your natural hairline and place the cap on your head. Comb through it gently for a final look.

2. How To Secure Your Human Hair Wig
Papillon Chemocare wigs come in two standardised sizes. To read more about them, visit our post on 7 Things That Set Papillon Chemocare Wigs Apart.
Your human hair wig comes with an adjustable elastic hook and your wig kit comes with wig clips. Both of these are for securing your wig to your head
If you’ve lost all your hair, you can secure your wig using the adjustable elastic hook. By tightening or loosening it, you can ensure a comfortable grip for your wig. You can always refer to the video in your wig kit so you can understand better how to use it.
Once your hair starts to grow back towards the end of the chemo sessions, you might feel the need to wear the wig till it grows back to a comfortable shoulder length or so. If you feel your wig slipping, then worry not. The wig clips from your wig kit are there to help you secure your wig. These wig clips can be attached to the front of the wig on your natural hair once it is about 2 inches long, and you start to feel your wig slip on it.

Once you have the right products, all you need is some gentle care and you can wash your wig at home like an expert. Here are 7 easy steps to do it. We also have a video tutorial on washing your wig here which you can watch to learn how to wash your wig correctly.
Step 1: Detangle your wig with slow strokes of a wide-toothed comb at the end to prevent matting during washing. Do not tug at the roots or it will cause the strands to fall off.
Step 2: Rinse the wig from roots to end by running it under a gentle stream of lukewarm water.
Step 3: Take some shampoo and rub it between your palms to loosen it. Apply it evenly through the hair. Use circular motions for the cap. Rinse from roots to tips like in step 2.
Step 4: Apply conditioner to the ends of the hair, and not the roots. Rinse in the direction of the hair to avoid tangling.
Step 5: Squeeze, not wring, excess water from the hair ends. If you wring, you’ll end up with strands in your hands that you do not want!
Step 6: Towel mob the wig till it’s about 70% dry. Use the comb that comes with your wig kit to set the parting if needed.
Step 7: Use a leave-in serum on the tips of your human hair wig to restore its lustre. Natural hair gets the hydration it needs from the oils of the scalp. You need to take over this process for your wig.
4. How To Style Your Human Hair Wig
The advantage of a human hair wig is that it allows for some styling freedom. You can read our styling expert Kavita Koparkar’s styling tips for your wig here.
While styling a human hair wig, there are some important DON’Ts that you need to know. These will save your wig from any damage and increase its life.
DON’T get chemical treatments for your wig like straightening, chemical bonding, colouring etc without expert supervision.
DON’T use heating tools like straightening irons or curling rods without the supervision of an expert.
DON’T use any hair oil on your human hair wig. You can add to its shine by using leave-in serums that are easily available in the market.
DON’T use fine combs to style your wig. Use the comb that comes with your wig kit to set the parting and for detangling.
DON’T comb your wig in the crown area as it will lead to an unnecessary flat look and strands will start falling out of your wig.
DON’T handle medium-length and long-length wigs too much as they can get matted.

5. How To Store Your Human Hair Wig
Whenever you take off your wig, it needs to be stored properly to avoid matting and damage. NEVER store a wig when it is wet. Store a dry wig in a large box and not a small one to prevent tangling of the strands. A good option is to use the box your wig comes in to store it.
